  • Focus Area: Overall national trend

January 2010 – July 2025

The unemployment rate for July 2025 stood at 3%, continuing a stable trend observed since April 2025 and reflecting a stronger labour market compared to the pandemic years.

By Quarter (2024 vs 2025)

In Q1 and Q2 of 2025, unemployment rates were lower compared to the same quarters in 2024.

  • Q1: 3.3% (2024) → 3.05% (2025)
  • Q2: 3.22% (2024) → 3% (2025)

This shows that the downward trend isn’t just seasonal, it reflects sustained improvements in the job market.

Duration of Unemployment

It is also vital to see how long people remain unemployed. This would give a clearer view of whether people are finding jobs quickly or staying unemployed for extended periods:

  • Less than 3 months
  • 3–5 months
  • 6–12 months
  • More than a year

Short-term unemployment (Less than 3 months) makes up the largest share. In July 2025, 64% of unemployed people had been actively seeking for work.

Medium-term unemployment (3–5 months): 20.4% of unemployed people, in July 2025

Long-term unemployment (6–12 months and 1 year or more): Around 15% of unemployed individuals had been actively seeking work for six months or longer.
